An open mind and a willing heart are the beginning of a great adventure. “The world is full of people who have never, since childhood, met an open doorway with an open mind,” a quote by E.B White perfectly describes the dilemma of many, especially those who dare to venture into foreign grounds. But not Nicolas. His willingness to venture into new horizons, perserverence , and hardwork have made him a successful man in Germany, moreso a leader. He shares with us his journey to Germany, his experience as a student and his current role as a Manager Sales Operation Europe at a company in Germany.
Like for many foreigners in Germany, it wasnt easy for Nicolas, but he never gave up, a virtue he never tires of stressing. For him, having one’s goal in sight and never forgetting what inspired the journey to a foreign land are very important.
As a Manager Sales Operation Europe of a company in Germany , Nicolas has to lead a team of different people from different parts of the world. What do you do with such a cocktail of cultures? “Be open minded, ” he says. For Nicolas, it is important to step out of the boxes that define us and understand where other people come from, and find a perfect balance.
Even during his free time, Nicolas’ desire to discover the world manifests itself. Aside from travelling and discovering new places and cultures, he is part of a project that brings people from all walks of life in one place to give them a pleasurable experience outside their formal daily routine. Through the Optimum project, boat, casino and Hollywood-themed events have been held. The project targets anyone willing to discover something new.
It is without dispute that Nicolas’ story is truly inspirational. Despite all the challenges, he rose to the occasion, never forgot his goals, and most of all never forgot who he was and what he liked doing.
