Immunity Deal 2023

The new years dawns, as we reflect

On 2022

Both good and bad in retrospect,

Even the ugly slew

We’ve harshly criticized ourselves,

And feel we’ve come up short

As if our goals were put on shelves,

Failing at every sort

A sense of letting ourselves down,

Not proud how it went

Lack of achievements make us frown,

Our path to succeed bent

Self judgment and self pity, too

Leaving us insecure

Prepared to succumb to the glue

That society pours

But here is 2023,

Inevitably next

A perfect time to set us free

From where we were perplexed

Immunity deal, proposed

Against this dimmer view

Where second chances are disclosed,

And perspectives are new

A second chance to write the wrongs,

Improving others, and

Us, too back where our faith belongs

Where belief won’t suspend

Like Raymond did with the Blacklist,

We’ll give what we can give

And though some souls may still be missed,

So many more will live

The same mistakes will void this bond,

But instead we can learn

As self-compassion grows more fond

And progress takes its turn

So let’s take 2023,

Improvement is a must

Maintaining our immunity;

This year belongs to us!
